Our Story

TheCRY was launched in 2002 by Steve Osmond and a group of leaders when 10,000 Canadians responded to the call to gather directly in front the Parliament of Canada to pray for the nation.  It was a historic day as people from many generations, cultures and denominations came under the banner of Jesus to pray.

TheCRY lay dormant for 4 years until it was resurrected by a group of young adults under the leadership of Faytene Kryskow (now Faytene Grasseschi).  With this new leadership team thousands gathered again in Ottawa in 2006 to pray.  This was to begin a string of several more CRYs that would take place both in the nation’s capital and across the country.

From 2006 to 2011 TheCRY gathered the nation for prayer in Ottawa, Vancouver, Toronto, St. John’s, Iqualuit and Edmonton.

In 2012 the vision expanded internationally with TheCRY Hollywood Universal City in Hollywood, CA.  In the summer of 2013 TheCRY partnered with GOD TV to host TheCRY in the Wilderness (Israel).

Most recently, in 2015, TheCRY took place in Montreal, QC.

Over the years TheCRY gatherings have witnessed remarkable answers to prayer including tangible shifts in government, crime ring busts, increased unity in churches, spiritual renewal in participating churches, the strengthening of local houses of prayer, the passing of righteous legislation and more.
